The Tax Man Cometh
Have you ever avoided an issue or a task and found a blessing when you finally faced it together? Or, if you know the old story, have you ever moved a manure pile and actually found a pony underneath? Have you ever put off filing your taxes? Last year, we delayed to the last minute, assuming we were going to have to pay in, and we didn’t.
People avoid facing unknowns. We may get frightened and avoid even naming the issues out loud, yet it is likely that our partners have similar fears. We put off redoing our wills, and we avoided looking at the details of our long term financial plans because we feared asking tough questions. When, with encouragement, we began to break the tasks into steps we could complete, we were able to face our dreads together and were strengthened as a couple. Life is not all “a bed of roses,” but we are much relieved to be moving forward together.
Have you faced some looming issue and come out stronger?
Do you as individuals or as a couple have any looming issues that need naming?
